Injection moulded in 100% recycled plastic, Spike Mat uses nothing else other than your own energy and weight! When using Spike Mat the ground is perforated with multiple small holes which then allow air, water and other nutrients to reach down deeper into the roots. Water gets to the grass roots quicker as it is effectively ‘grabbed’ in the holes made by the spikes, reducing run off and also loss through evaporation in warmer weather conditions.

WHATS INCLUDED?

SpikeMat consists of an injection moulded base made from 100% recycled plastic, 42 steel spikes (5cm), 4 steel U bolts, 2 foam handle grip cords, all fixings and detailed fitting instructions. The footprint made by each individual  impression is 320mm x 410mm (equivalent to approximately 1.25 square feet).

SPIKE MAT LAWN AERATION

So easy to use. Follow these 4 simple steps... and then just repeat!

STEP 1

GRIPPING EACH CORD PLACE THE SPIKE MAT IN YOUR CHOSEN STARTING POSITION.

STEP 2

STEP ONTO THE SPIKE MAT. UNLIKE TYPICAL LAWN AERATORS YOUR WEIGHT AND PRESSURE ARE OVER THE SPIKES WHICH IS ESPECIALLY HELPFUL ON FIRMER GROUND.

STEP 3

WITH YOUR BODY WEIGHT APPLY DOWNWARD PRESSURE THROUGH YOUR FEET IN A SIDE TO SIDE ROCKING MOTION PRESSING THE SPIKE MAT FIRMLY INTO THE GROUND.

STEP 4

STEP OFF BACKWARDS WITH ONE FOOT, KEEPING YOUR REMAINING FOOT ON THE SPIKE MAT AS A RESISTANT STABILISER. THEN GENTLY EASE THE SPIKE MAT UPWARDS AND OUT OF THE GROUND!

WHY DO I NEED ONE?

Every lawn will benefit from some level of aeration during the year. If you want to have a lovely looking lawn, along with using other lawn treatments, it almost demands it. 

 

Lawn aeration reduces compaction, oxidizes the soil and allows the roots to take the appropriate nutrients and grow as vigorous as possible. Spiking your lawn in extended periods of dry weather can assist in helping any water get down to the grass roots and not being lost to run-off and evaporation.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ASSEMBLE?

To fix all 42 spikes and attach the foam handle grip cords to the U Bolts, takes about 10-15 minutes. Of course once done it can be safely stored away and will then be ready for use at any time.
